Accents, gender, race, ethnicity, and other aspects of presence can impact teaching and learning for both instructors and students. For nontenured professors, these elements can impact teaching evaluations. Come to this workshop to learn about best practices related to embodiment, and to share and learn about strategies from your peers.  

This session will be presented by Dr. Brandi Denison, Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, a Faculty Fellow in the Office of Faculty Enhancement.

Transgender Inclusion in the Classroom

The LGBT Center will be hosting a faculty and student panel titled:
Transgender Inclusion: Policies and Practice in the Classroom

The panel will include faculty, student, and staff perspectives on practices in the classroom that lead to transgender inclusion. The panel will discuss new guidelines on preferred name use.

Transgender Inclusion: Policies and Practice in the Classroom
Faculty, staff and students are invited to a panel discussion about policies and practices that create an inclusive campus for transgender students. Topics will include best practices in the classroom, the experiences of current transgender students, and an introduction to the new UNF Preferred Name Policy. Panelists include Dr. Nick de Villiers (College of Arts & Sciences), Andrea Adams-Manning (Student Ombuds and Assistant Dean of Students), and student Bane Campos. Kaitlin Legg (LGBT Resource Center) will facilitate the discussion.

2016 Presidential Professor Lecture

Please join us Wednesday, March 30^th, 2016 for the Presidential Professor Lecture presented by Dr. Andrew Buchwalter

Are all humans afforded universal human rights, and on what basis are these rights realized? Presidential Professor, Dr. Andrew Buchwalter will address this question and present a novel intercultural approach to the question of why some human rights are universal. In his presentation, he will contrast the intercultural approach with previous approaches, which emphasize human nature and political state rights. The intercultural approach argues universal human rights from intercultural interactions and histories of the world’s peoples. Come and enjoy the presentation and discussion about the validity of universal human rights. A reception will follow the lecture.

There will be a Student Panel hosted by the Interfaith Center at 5:00 p.m. in the Lufrano Intercultural Gallery.
