E-books have become an increasingly desirable option for scholarly publications. Time to publish and immediate global access have been features of e-publishing that have driven demand for these options. One of the challenges to e-book publishing, however, has been the need for established credibility of the work.
In a recent Chronicle article, Jennifer Howard describes how some recent changes in the e-book market will impact credibility and demand for e-books. Several important University Press publishers are expanding their e-book offerings. This move is sure to increase the prominence of e-books in the marketplace.
